Engaging Education’s evolution to Assembly
January 2025. Our annual team day where we review the previous year and set out plans for the year ahead. As part of this, we used the opportunity to come together and take an introspective look at our own brand identity, messaging, positioning and offer.
At our foundations, who we are, who we work with and how we behave were all felt to be true to who we want to be as an agency. How this was reflected externally however, didn’t quite feel like it had kept up with our growth and development over the years. It had served us well, but was very much representative of the past and not necessarily reflective of who we are today or our vision moving forward.
At the centre of this; our name. Discussions around this predates 2025 and can be traced as far back as our inception. Starting out as an agency delivering creative workshops in education, the name was practical - very much a ‘does what it says on the tin’ approach - but with a question mark on its longevity.
Fast forward 14 years, and the brand grew, evolved, and redefined itself as a leading brand and marketing agency in education, all behind that same name. Well, for the most part. Often it would be shortened (EE, EngagingE, Engaging) or even slightly misinterpreted (Engage in Education, Engage Education, Engaging Educate). And so, with a focus on better defining our branding, a name change was back on the table. And this time, it stuck.
Through internal workshopping and external consultation, Assembly stood out - carrying through the connection with our education brand and communications specialism, while broadening to encompass our work in the public and third sector. It also embodies a key part of our ethos; fostering long-term relationships with those we work with, creating an assembly of partners and skillsets, alongside our internal team, to build collective knowledge-sharing, problem solving and idea generation. Aligning with our mission of shaping change, together.
Practically, the rebrand helps us communicate with clarity and coherence across our service offers, with our established Advisory arm now sitting within the identity rather than alongside, as well as setting the foundation for Assembly Hall, our latest initiative to drive internal and external collaboration and innovation to help address the needs of the sectors we work with.
This rebrand isn’t about changing who we are, but about recognising who we’ve become. The people, values and commitment remain the same as those that have shaped the agency to where we are today - a place we are very proud to be and excited to continue to build from.
